Welcomed Home

Thanks Bobby for planning this little soiree and to Larry Sr. for sacrificing his house and letting me stay for the weekend. Six or seven bottles made for lots of delirium. I start work tomorrow so my liver has time to regenerate. Here is a random sampling of the craziness.

And ended the weekend wrapped in a Mexican blanket =]

Choke

What I want is to be needed. What I need is to be indispensable to somebody. Who I need is somebody that will eat up all my free time, my ego, my attention. Somebody addicted to me. A mutual addiction.

On a Palahniuk binge.

This is My United States of Whatever

Finally over jetlag, I think, numerous cups of coffee aside. My mom picked me up from SFO and got me a carne asada burrito. How delicious it tasted!

Easter was nice, lunch with the mom, hid Easter eggs for the cousins across the field. For the adult egg hunt, there were mini bottles of whiskey, chocolates filled with booze, a huge bottle of Patron, wines, bottle openers, and beers. I won this 8pack :)

Afterwards, I went to my dads for dinner and saw Phil before he went off to Ohio.

Other than that, my poor radio is broken but I get it fixed tomorrow. Spent quality time with Mariel, Duece, Jel, and Bernard at Starbucks/Wingstop/Rosie McCann's. Awesome music, not to mention it was my "birthday" haha. Right now, spending time with little cousin, Myka, since she is on Spring Break. We stalked our Uncle Ricky and creepily waited by his crazy looking car while he was in the bank. Anyone need StateFarm? Hit me up!

This weekend, is mostly Reisland Connection with the addition of BWW with Koontz and Amanda's Despedida! Keep cool to the folks in the Philippines & stay warm to everyone here.

Chicken Rice Shop

Was watching No Reservations and Bourdain visited a spot for Hainanese Chicken. Basically its chicken boiled in chicken broth, served with rice also cooked in chicken broth. A few days later this spot opens up down the street from the crib. Coincidence or destiny? Just encase it was the later we decided to check it out.

First they brought out the side dishes. Sauteed bean sprouts topped with roasted garlic (top). Spring roll in a shot glass shape (bottom). Nothing spectacular, but decent filler and some much needed vegetation to go with the meal.

And the chicken. Not as dry as boiling chicken at home, I assume that comes from boiling it in the same oily stock used throughout the day. Not as much flavor on its own, so the soy based sauce its served on adds some needed saltiness. Also the sauces (pictured below) provide a lot of flavor. The yellow sauce is ginger and oil, and the red sauce is a spicy chilli sauce which was pretty spicy by PI standards.

I expected more flavor from the chicken rice. The place is called "Chicken Rice Shop" so I wanted the chicken rice to be on point. Considering I almost never eat rice I was hoping this would be a game changer, it wasn't. The soup was nice, had more of a duck flavor than chicken, I ended up pouring a majority of it over my rice to make up for its blandness.

Overall Chicken Rice Shop wasn't bad. Both meals were around 200php each and came with iced tea. I wouldn't go there regularly because, well, I don't eat rice. That being said, boiled chicken is one of the more healthy ways to get some protein so I may stumble in there one day again.

Beer, Boat, & Beach.

Too bad no pictures were taken in the sun but I suppose you can infer that there was sun to be had considering the tans we got as souvenirs. Thanks Titoy & Josette for housing us; always a great time =)
